The Barrytown School logo depicts the environment we are in with the sea and depending on interpretation either Aoraki or the bluffs in the distance.

The Harakeke reminds us of our links to the past as Barrytown used to be a major flax milling community.

The Nīkau which grows in abundance on the Coast Road is the only palm that is endemic to New Zealand.

The sunset which Barrytown is fortunate enough to be able to see on clear nights and the sea which is located at the end of the road and a popular recreational spot for many of our students.

Most importantly the Tāiko, which has become the acronym for our school values. In 1945 students from Barrytown School discovered the bird while out doing a school project.
